The indigenous original name of this town is Qosqo. Although the name was used in Quechua, its origin is found in the Aymara language. The word is derived from the phrase Qosqo, related to the city’s foundation myth of the Ayar Siblings. According to this legend, Ayar Awqa Inca acquired wings and flew to the site of the future city; there he was transformed into a stone to mark the possession of the land by his Ayllu or village.

Day 1
Itinerary on the Half-Day Tour

We will pick you up from your hotel at 1:30pm, where you visit Cusco’s plaza de Armas, the cathedral , Koricancha “The temple of the sun”, after touring in Cusco city. Then out of the town we visit Sacsayhuaman Inca site, Kenko Inca site, Tambomachay “Tle temple of the water”, and Puca Pucara a small circular Inca ruin.  After this site drive back to Cusco city where the trip ends in the main square.
