Choquequirao is “also known as Choquequiraw or Choquequirau. It is considered as the Sacred Sister of Machu Picchu. Especially for its structural and architectural likeness. It could be one of the hidden citadels in the canyon of Vilcabamba. Here the Incas descendants took the refuge from 1536.
As you would see, the city resisted the passage of many centuries. Thanks to the lush and wild vegetation; and the stones which have camouflaged and still cover about 90% of its surface.
In the last few years the Peruvian government is restoring the Inca ruins. They want to make it even more accessible for visitors interested in exploring the alternative Incan culture.
We will be picking you up by bus from your hotel in Cusco. Then in our private transport we will be driving you to Cachora village. Here you start hiking the 4 hours before lunch place. Along the trail we will get to see beautiful breathtaking landscapes, spectacular views of the Apurimac canyon.
Therefore the path is surrounded by beautiful flora and fauna. Since lunch spot you have downhill hike for 2 more hours to get the first campsite La playa about 1800 m above sea level
After organic breakfast you start climbing up for 2 hours to Santa Rosa (first break point of the day), then continues the uphill for 3 more hours to Marampata which is the second lunch spot.
During this walk you get to enjoy the splendid Apurimac spectacular canyon, the mountain of Choquequirao Inca ruins and beautiful mountains.
After lunch the walk is very gentle to get to the abandoned ancient city. The campsite is only outside of the site (Chance to see the sunset and Condors)
Today is the most amazing day! the day to conquer the mysterious city of Choquequirao so that the tour guide shows you important sectors of “gold cradle”. You will have time to enjoy the whole morning only of this citadel.
After visiting the site we have lunch in order to get back to the Canyon of Apurimac which is La Playa. Where we spend the night close to the river exactly in the first campsite
After breakfast, we will go hiking for 4 hours to the last lunch spot, Capuliyoc. Here we will stop for lunch with our team. After lunch, we will have 2 more hours of trekking to Cachora village. We will be meeting the transport for our trip back to Cusco.
The Inca ruins of Choquequirao is between Cusco and Apurimac region. Therefore, Choquequirao archaeological park belong to both cities.

The access to Choquequirao is not easy as you imagine. By its remoteness means that only 15 to 30 trekkers visit everyday; whether you would love to experience what Machu Picchu was like before the tourists hordes invaded, this is your option.
Remember; the ruin does not require a strenuous 3 day trek from the drop off point at Cachora town, with lots of rugged climbs and rudimentary camping chances. If you are not up for a 4 or 5 day round trip; it might be the best to wait of the famous cable car system that our governor apparently hat it in the works.
