The Royal Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is our private flagship tour. We can depart at any time as long as there are permits available.
“The LEGENDARY stone paved Inca trail to Machu Picchu ” is Peru’s number one trail to Machu Picchu. This 4-Day trek is also one of the most famous & impressive treks in South America. Inca Trail Trek tops the bucket list of many travellers.
In order to protect the authenticity of the trail, local authorities restrict the access to just 500 trekkers a day. This includes porters, chefs and guides. Often the Inca Trail permits tend to sell out six months in advance.
The trail takes you from the snow capped Andean peaks to the cloud forests of Peru. The trail is dotted with many interesting archaeological sites, this includes, Wiñay Wayna, Sun Gate or Inti Punku and more.
This is a high altitude hike and involves hikes through high mountain passes. The highest point of the Inca Trail is the infamous Dead Woman’s Pass at 4215 metres (13828 ft.) above sea level. You will be hiking to the pass on the second day of the 4 Day Inca Trail Hike to Machu Picchu.
We highly recommend you to spend at least four days in the City of Cusco before the trail to acclimate and avoid altitude sickness during the trail.

In Quechua, Phuyupatamarca means “City in the Clouds” and IntiPata ” Sun above the terraces” .

Our vacation was great to the land of the Incas in Perú with Gringo Tours.
We strongly recommend traveling... read more in Cusco. We had an amazing experience.. Thanks to our guide Juan!
We highly recommend booking the Machu Picchu day tríp from Cusco with Happy Gringo!
Everything else was a dumpster fire that had us waiting for two hours for a guide to show up (he stated he hadn’t been notified from the travel agency even though we went to the physical Happy Gringo location to check in the day before AND provided all requested information in person and again via WhatsApp). If we hadn’t reached out to them on WhatsApp, I’m certain we would have still been standing outside of the train station waiting. The information you get when you get to the Machu Picchu location is also confusing, telling you to go to a Pueblo, but when you look it up on the maps, there are several listed, which further added to the confusion. Very much underperformed our expectations for nearly $800.
Final thought, Machu Picchu is very much worth the visit, but not with this outfit.
