Machu Picchu Day Trip from Cusco Details

Machu Picchu Tours One Day is one of our exclusive tours. We have designed the Machu Picchu tours one-day program for travelers wanting to visit Machu Picchu in a short time.

With no sacrifice in quality or time, you will be given an immersive tour of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu by our English-speaking local tour guide.

This full-day trip to Machu Picchu begins with an early morning transfer from your hotel in Cusco to the Ollantaytambo train station. This will be followed by a two-hour train ride to Aguas Calientes Pueblo.

We will then transfer you to the Machu Picchu citadel where our local expert will be giving you a two hours detailed tour of the citadel.

If you intend to hike Huayna Picchu Mountain or Machu Picchu Mountain, it is highly recommended that you let us know at the time of booking the tour to Machu Picchu. You will need permits to hike to any of these peaks, and permits are often sold months in advance.

Machu Picchu Day Trip from Cusco is one of our signature tours. We aim to offer you the best and the most of the trip. We operate the tour both as a private tour and as a small group tour.

The price includes train tickets in an Expedition or Voyager tourist class train. If you desire to upgrade to the Vistadome train to get a panoramic view, let us know when booking the tour.

Best time to visit Machu Picchu:

The best time to visit Machu Picchu on a full-day tour is during the dry season, between May and November. During the rainy season, it often gets cloudy which makes the visibility quite low.

Also, check our detailed guide about the weather in Cusco, which is a vital factor to consider before taking any tour in the region.

Consider spending 2-3 days in Cusco before your Machu Picchu Tours One Day to avoid altitude sickness.

Itinerary

Day 1Machu Picchu Day Trip from Cusco - Machu Picchu Tours One Day

We will pick you up from your hotel at 0430 AM. Then, using our private transport, we will take you to Ollantaytambo train station. Here, you will board the train to Aguas Calientes town.

At Aguas Calientes, we will take a bus to Machu Picchu’s citadel. It will be a 30-minute drive up the hill. Our tour guides will assist you in clearing the security control and entering the citadel.

Once inside the citadel, you will be rewarded with a spectacular sight of the citadel while the clouds clear and the golden rays of the sun shimmer on the walls of Machu Picchu.

We will give you a two-hour guided tour. After the tour, you will have some free time to explore the citadel independently. If you have booked a hike in Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain, our guide will direct you to the trailhead.

Alternatively, you can hike to Sungate or Intipunku. This is the entrance to the citadel for those on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

At an agreed-upon time, you will take a bus back to Aguas Calientes. Here, we will serve lunch at a local restaurant. At around 2:30 PM, we will take a train back to Ollantaytambo town.

Our representative will meet you on arrival and transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco. You will be reaching by 06:40 PM.

Thank you Marko Andinauta for taking us on this amazing journey to Machu Picchu and for sharing your expert knowledge and passion about Inca/Peruvian history and culture.

The journey from Cusco to Machu Picchu was fascinating. We passed through remote villages by bus then took an enchanting train ride through the mountainous of “Valle Sagrado” to Aguas Calientes. In Aguas Calientes we visited a nice restaurant overlooking the Vilcanota River to enjoy some Pisco sour’s – Peru’s national drink. Finally, we boarded a large van on the way to our final destination.

Once in Machu Picchu the experience really starts to hit you. WOW. This place is an archeological marvel and one of the 7 wonders of the world. As we toured the site, we took lots of great pics and our tour guide stopped along the route to share information and perspective on key details.

Marko is a multilingual tour guide who speaks Quechua, Spanish, English and some Italian. We had both English and Spanish speakers on the tour and Marko switched between languages without missing a beat.

I highly recommend Marko Andinauta and Happy Gringo Tours!

We traveled in February 2020, and took the Machu Picchu single day tour with Marco and Happy Gringo Tours.
The entire experience was excellent, and very well managed. We had was excellent communication in the lead up (including a message at 3:50am to let us know they were close to picking us up). The first part of the tour was with Peru Rail, which was very well organised.
We meet Marko at the Aguas Calientes station, and he took us up to the Machu Picchu. Marko was an excellent guide, and provided so much information and detail about the history of the site. We probably could have organised the logistics of getting to and from ourselves, but the immense value added with having Marko explain the important details made the experience unforgettable. We also ended up being the only two people on the tour, which made it more special.
This tour is excellent, and I can’t recommend it more highly

My mom (62 years old) and I booked this trip to see Machu Picchu and were not let down! We were a bit concerned about all the different methods and modes of transport but Gringo Tours did an excellent job coordinating the tour and making sure everyone knew where they were going. Our own private guide at Machu Picchu awaited us there and gave fantastic tidbits and information about the ruins and the surrounding areas. Could not recommend this company more!
